Digital citizenship basics

  • Digital citizenship and internet safety are important aspects to be considered in today's digital and inter-connected online world. Ideas such as privacy and security online, digital footprint, media literacy, cyberbullying, and media balance are all important to consider.

  • With students working online now more than ever in distance learning, digital citizenship is even more valuable to be discussed in the classroom and at home.

  • The anchor standard for digital citizenship states: Students recognize the rights, responsibilities and opportunities of living, learning and working in an interconnected digital world, and they act and model in ways that are safe, legal and ethical.
